Railway Res 2 Pontefract Cols 0

Rail won their first Galaxy Football Lancashire League reserve fixture on  Wednesday evening with a 2-0 victory over Pontefract Collieries Reserves.
A dream start saw rail 1-0 up in 3 minutes with the lads quick out of the blocks slotting home the their first goal of the season after some intricate movement in the last third. The second goal whilst slotted home well by Craig Rampling was made most impressive by the quality and accuracy of the diagonal by Tom Hesketh . 2-0 at HT was a fair reflection on the game.
The second half Ponte came at Rail with more purpose ,as expected, but resolute defending and some hard work around the field prevented any comeback from the visitors. As time went on a combination of tiredness and full match fitness saw some players tire in the Rail ranks but with subs brought into play Rail could have sealed things finally but for that little bit of sharpness that is needed in the last quarter of a match.
A satisfying start to the season with a team full of local lads with aspirations of 1st team football ,a great attitude and lots of potential to boot!
