Harrogate Railway 2 Rossendale United 0
A goal in each half gave Railway the three points from their first home encounter of the season. Rossendale proved stubborn opposition and had several chances to take the lead in the first half before Paul Stansfield was brought down in the area and skipper Ben JONES converted the spot-kick on 29 minutes.
Rail picked up in the second half and dominated for long periods but failed to capitalise on their territorial advantage apart from Dan VERITY’S fine header on the hour.
But a good three points and Phil Sharpe’s men are now on the winning track – hopefully it will continue against the league’s new boys FC Fylde on Saturday. |
