Harrogate Railway 3 Pannal Sports 3

A young Harrogate Railway Reserve side was strengthened by the return of Jacque Joblong from France and the debut of Joe Knowlson who has only recently left York City.  However, it was local boy Craig Rampling who gave Rail the lead within the first 10 minutes after Railway had dominated the early play. This seemed to galvanise Pannal Sports who were level within minutes and then despite the fact that Railway had controlled the majority of the game, Pannal Sports found themselves 2-1 up at half-time. Railway conceding with almost the last kick of the first half when the ball was scrambled in after a sports corner was not cleared.

Railway started the second half similar to the way they stared the first and were soon level when Craig Rampling scored his second after some good work from Sam Kellegher. Pannal Sports then took the lead for a second time when Railway were once again failed to clear a Pannal corner.  Railway dominated the remainder of the game although Railway keeper, Dan Batt, was twice called in to action and made two tremendous saves when Railway were caught on the break.  Joe Knowlson hit the post, but Railway eventually equalized when 16 year old Brandan Irving beat the Sports offside trap to score his third goal in 2 games for Railway.

Railway then had a number of chances to win the game but it was not to be and the final score was 3-3.  Railway showed lot's of promise and were equal to a team who won 7-1 on Saturday and are favourites to go straight back to the Harrogate Premier League.  The Railway squad consisted of 8 players only 16 years of age and 3 players 17 years of age so there is much better still to come.
