Sharpe Move to keep The RAIL Up...

Phil Sharpe & Nige Danby have taken steps in an attempt to move away from the bottom end of the table by making five new signings in Nathan Cartman, Andrew Dawson, Chris Jenkinson, Aaron Hollindrake and Nicky Darker.

Cartman was originally on the books at Coca-Cola League One side Leeds United.

He joined the Yorkshire side when he was 13 years of age and featured with their reserve side for three years.

Whilst on Leeds` books he has had loan spells with Curzon Ashton, Harrogate Town, Farsley Celtic and also spent a month with Rail.

He was snapped up by KoolSport Northern Counties East League side Brighouse Town in early September following his release from Elland Road.

Dawson joins from another NCEL side, Pickering Town, whom he had signed for in early October from rivals Selby Town.

Dawson enjoyed six seasons with Selby and the right-back captained the side on a
number of times.

His previous clubs include York City, Carlisle United, Scarborough and Whitby Town.

Defender Jenkinson has joined Rail after coming over to England from New Zealand where he played for Otago United, while midfielder or forward Aaron Hollindrake moved from UniBond Premier neighbours Ossett Town, having previously played for Vodkat North West Counties Leaguers Silsden and another UniBond Premier side, Guiseley.

Darker joins Railway from Stocksbridge Park Steels, whom he had signed for in October from Goole AFC where last season he was captain and player of the year but did not fit in with the new boss' plans.

Darker joined Goole after an eventful early footballing life. He started with a four-year football scholarship in Florida and whilst playing for Lynn University, he won the Conference Championship.

Unfortunately his four-year scholarship was cut short following an injury that required an operation. It was on this news that he came back to the UK.

Since then he has played for Maltby Main and Brodsworth Welfare before joining Goole.
